extracting velocity data (direction and magnitude) from mesh layer

Hello

I have difficulties to extract information from the mesh layer.

I was able to import and visualise all my results in QIS via the results.xdmf-file. (The vectors are recognized as such, all good so far). The problem is I cant extract the data I need. I want to calculate the orthogonal velocity to a line in a vector layer. I tried using the "meshongrid" algorithm which seems to work at first I can choose the velocity dataset group and export it with magnitude and angle (direction). The problem is it results in the same values for all points. To me it looks like that the algorithm is bugged but might very well be user error since I dont have a lot of experience working with mesh data. I tried all other ways I could think of to extract the information. Rasterizing the mesh works but I can only export the absolute velocity but not the direction. It tried using PyGIS with the help of ChatGPT but could not get it to work either.

Does anyone have the same problem or a possible solution?

Thanks in advance
Diana
