Any newer hardware recommendations?

Hello to all!

The topics/threats here already exist for some years which is alot if you look at the CPU development.

I wonder if there are any newer experiences with BASEMENT on the newer AMD plattform (EPYC or even Threatripper...).
If someone wants to start using BASEMENT and builds its own computer - the question comes up: where to put the money :-)

Are the recommendations still "two cpu sockets each 8 cores with a clock >= 3ghz"?

For example the AMD Threatripper with 4 RAM modules seems to have also a good speed cpu<->ram....

Another example, both of the server cpus meet the recommendations:
Xeon gold 6134 3.2 GHz, 8 cores, memory speed 2666mhz
EPYC 7262 3.2 GHz, 8 cores, memory speed 3200mhz
Are the two cpus both more or less "good"? anyone who can tell us more..?

And the other question for starters: Linux or Windows? The use of GPU seems to be supported only on linux - for now...
Is the performance more or less the same (when GPU support is also in the windows version)... ?

Maybe I care to much and a really good  desktop (gamer) configuration will do it also???

Thank you for any recommendation or advice
Christian
