Sediment transport at bridges

Hi,

Is there no way to have a sediment transport connection between two stringdefs? I mean something like the hqrelation but for sediment.

Cheers

Matteo

Re: Sediment transport at bridges

So, I found a way to model sediment transport at bridges, but it needs improvement.

Here is what I manged to do:

0. set up a mesh without holes at bridges;
1. from QGIS export the nodes at the bridge upstream boundary;
2. with HEC-RAS calculate the exact hq-relation at bridges;
3. use an internal hq-relation boundary condition

By doing this one can have sediment transport at bridges and also simulate the effect of the "ceiling" of the bridge.

Some problems remain, since the hq relation is calculated with fixed bed, thus when the bed changes due to erosion/deposition, the hq relation is not valid anymore and the problem described in my first post here occurs.

Re: Sediment transport at bridges

Hi

Is it possible to do this with Basement 2.8 as well?

Re: Sediment transport at bridges

Yes, there are INNER_BOUNDARY conditions for sediment in basement 2.8: use the "open" one.
Or have a look at the "dredge" under SOURCE/EXTERNAL_SOURCE
