Basement and Windows 8

Dear colleagues,

I'm running Basement 2.5 on Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2620M CPU @ 2.70 GHz and Windows 7 and I'm able to use 100% of CPU setting number_threads = 0

but

running on Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40 GHz and Windows 8.1 the program is able to use only 20% of CPU

Do you have any idea to use the whole CPU

regards

Paolo

Re: Basement and Windows 8

Dear Paolo

Try to explicitly specify the number of cores to use, i.e. number_threads = 8.

We are working on a native version for Windows 8. This may solve the problem.

Best regards
David

Re: Basement and Windows 8

Dear David,

I tested with number_threads = 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 16 ......

The use of CPU never was higher of 20%

Best regards
Paolo

Re: Basement and Windows 8

Dear David,

sorry, I have just found out the problem wasn't connected to Windows 8 but to an hardware component of my laptop.

Now it works very well also with Windows 8.

regards
Paolo
