Model fitting with the inflow

Hi,

I have try to fit my model on a Hec Ras model for the inflow and outflow. The point is that the inflow is quite good (around 6 cm deeper, with a slope that I have changed) but for the inflow, I have an difference with the wse from Hec Ras but the slope doesn't change antyhing. I have wait a long time for the stationnary state (inflow = outflow) but I have still a difference of 40 cm for a depth of 6 m. How can I try to fit my model for the inflow?

Thank you very much, best regards,

Quentin

Re: Model fitting with the inflow

I have to fit my model with an other model (HEc Ras). I have fit my model for the inflow playing with the slope but for the inflow , the slope doesn't change really something. I have a difference of wse of 4 cm for the inflow (when I have change the slope for teh hqrelation) but for the inflow I have still a difference of 40 cm. Thank's for your help

Re: Model fitting with the inflow

Dear Quentin,
which inflow boundary condition are you using?

Re: Model fitting with the inflow

I have use:
BOUNDARY {
                type           = hqrelation
                name           = Outflow
                string_name    = Outflow
                slope          = 1.2
                weighting_type = conveyance
            }
            BOUNDARY {
                string_name          = InflowRhone
                type                 = hydrograph
                file                 = Inflow_stationnary_Rhone.txt
                max_interval         = 20
                number_of_iterations = 5000
                weighting_type       = area
                precision            = -1.0
                wse_calc_method      = local
                name                 = InflowRhone
                slope                = 0.9567

Re: Model fitting with the inflow

Dear Quentin,

would you mind sending us your set up per email? So we can reproduce your case and try to see what is wrong.

I do not see any error in your boundary condition, so I want to give a closer look to your simulation!

Bests,

Matteo

Re: Model fitting with the inflow

Hi,

I think I have solve my problem. In fact, I have try to fit my 2D model with a 1D model of Hec Ras for a return period of 50 years to avoid any oveflowing. I have try to change the slope to see how close I could be to the 1D model. After some tests, I had all the time a difference of WSE around 40 cm upstream and around +- 10 cm downstream. Finally I have seen that my 1D model was different of 37 cm upstream and 3 cm downstream for the bed elevation. This means that an optimize fitting case was for a slope of 0.5 for the inflow and a slope of 1.4 for the outflow.

Thank's for your help.

Best regards, Quentin
