lateral slope factor NL

Hi,
I have two questions about the lateral slope factor NL. I am conducting a sensitivity analysis on a prismatic channel, changing the NL parameter and using BASEMENT 3.1. In particular I tried:

1. without the direction block
2. with NL=0
3. with NL=0.75
4. with NL=1.5
5. with NL=2.63

Question 1:
I simulate a model with the condition 2, in order to verify if the first and the second simulations have the same results, so if 1=2. However, this did not happen. Can I ask why?
Question 2:
Moreover, looking at the cross section of the channel, I expected a greater bank erosion in the case of higher NL, but also, a major deposition in the middle. In other words, I expected a monotonic increase of erosion and deposition, as NL increases too. Unfortunately, in my cases, this is not always true. Can anyone give me any suggestion or explanation?
I hope to have been clear enough!

Thanks
Sara

Re: lateral slope factor NL

Hi Sara
Running a test case with 1. and 2. I get the same results. Did you also activate the CURVATURE block?

Re: lateral slope factor NL

Hi Matthias. No I did not. Do I have to activate it?
Thank you!!

Re: lateral slope factor NL

Hi Sara

No, the CURVATURE block is not necessary for modelling bank erosion in a straight channel. Maybe you could post some results and give more details of the model?

Best
Matthias
