Basement freezes

Hy there,
currently I am experementing with Basement to assess whether it may be suitable for my project. My workstation is a dual 6 Core (Xeon5650 @2.66 Ghz) with 20 Gb RAM. Regardless of the number of cores involved Basement freezes about 2 seconds into running a model, with high CPU usage for about one minute (relative to the involved number of cores) before it collapses down to about 1% and continues modelling like this until finished or aborted. Task manager/Ressource Monitor recieve no response from Basement about 50 %.

- I tried assigning everything from 1 to 0 threads (0 apparently uses all available cores = 24 with hyperthreading) with the same result and awkwardly slow computation performance and RTS
- I tried v2.4, v2.5, v2.6 and v2.7 - same story throughout

Maybe the attached screenshot illustrates my dilemma.
Does anyone know what could be the issue?
