Sediment flux with or without porosity

Hello all,

I have few basic questions here ( for modelling braided river)

1. Can we use both hll or exact numerical solver ? or you strictly suggest to use exact only?

2. Does the outflux of solid discharge given in the log file include porosity or not?

3. I have transport capacity of my channel 0.04 m3/s based on my equilibrium topography and hydrodynamic based calculation using MPM formula. Now I want to impose same amount of sediment from u/s boundary.  If I am imposing the same amount of sediment ( 0.04 m3/s) from U/S boundary. How does the model remembers this amount- with porosity or without porosity?

Re: Sediment flux with or without porosity

Hi Bishnu

To answer your questions,
(1) this is the modeller's choice between speed and accuracy of the Riemann problem
(2) The sediment fluxes are always considered without porosity (input and output). Porosity plays only a role for deposition/erosion.
(3) I would suggest to use 'sediment_discharge' as upstream sediment boundary where you can define your sediment hydrograph without porosity

hope this helps!
cheers, Lukas
