Due to a bug, the "transport_capacity_abs" is written incorrectly to the .xdmf File when more than one grain size class is used, resulting in the file being unreadable by QGIS.

A workaround is to use the "transport_capacity" output and calculate the magnitude of the transport capacity vector during the post-processing.

Regards,
Matthias

Hi Stefano,

One issue that I recently noticed is, that if you define the same output variable (e.g., water_depth) twice in the simulation.json, then QGIS cannot open the XDMF file.

Could this be the reason? If you can send the the complete test case that results in the problem, I will have a look.

Best regards,
Matthias

I am having the same problem with the xdmf exported after running BASEMD. I cannot add the mesh to QGIS, even after changing the header as noted above. The xdmf from the BASEHPC model I ran to double check does not have this issue. That is, I can visualize the results from BASEHPC.

Missing tag "flood_tracking" / use of "tracking_timestep"

The flood tracking feature results in additional computation cost. Increasing the tracking_timestep provides the option to reduce this cost costs. If you want the tracking to occur at every computational time step you can just set a tracking_timestep that is clearly smaller than the expected computational time step.

Note that defining a tracking_timestep smaller than the computational time step will not affect the computational time step. The latter is purely defined by hydraulics, cell size and the user-specified CFL number.

Hi there

I've been using a Linux machine for simulation and transferred the simulation folder to my Windows machine. When creating the xmdf in the GUI, I'm often not able to load the results in QGIS, it crashes almost immediately when selecting the xdmf file.

Did anyone experience this too?

@developers Are there differences in the data structure of results on Linux compared to Windows? Or are the files of the exact same structure and interchangeable?

Best regards,
Sam

Hello all,

I would like to confirm the output "friction_chezy".
In the manual it is described as "Dimensionless squared chezy friction coefficient [-]". Therefore, it is cf^2, i.e. (C/sqrt(g))^2.

Is this correct ? The magnitude of my results match more a C^2 and I'm wondering if it is my model that has a problem or if there is a units missmatch.

Thank you in advance !
